Lectors are responsible for the announcements at the start of the mass, the first and second readings during the Liturgy of the Word, and the prayers of the faithful.

When announced by a community, those who have the gift of reading and proclaiming the Word of God may apply to participate in the audition. Selected candidates will undergo mandatory training and spiritual formation.
